About Belengere!

I have lived in the coastal region of Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia, with my husband Ron and two grown up sons, Michael and Kevan, since we emigrated from the United Kingdom in 1993.

I have always had a dog since I was a child, and when I decided I would venture into showing I sat down and looked through a dog encyclopaedia, saw my first Groenendael, and was immediately captivated.

I was thus introduced to the world of Belgians in the early 1980's by Paul and Lorna England, of the Vanistica Belgians, who quickly become our very dear friends.

My first Groenendael was the irreplaceable 'Vanistica In A Whirl', Sofi, and I could not have hoped for a better start in the breed. Paul and Lorna are well known for breeding dogs with terrific temperaments, and Sofi was no exception, having an absolutely bomb proof Belgian temperament. Sadly, when I left the UK Sofi was ten years old, and I was advised not to take her to Australia by our local vet. So she remained with some of our close friends -and lived on in robust health for another five years!

Once settled in Australia I became involved in the Belgian Rescue Service here in Queensland, Australia, and met Kathryn Todd of the Mirribandi Kennels, who gave me my first Australian Belgian, Champion Mirribandi Kiara Vision.

Kiara rules the roost here with her daughter, Sofi, and our gorgeous and very typical groenendael boy, Cador, Ch Vanistica Kaleidoscope CD. Much to the black dog's confusion one of those red gals has also joined us, capturing the hearts of all who meet her, the beautiful and gentle Venice, Domburg Top Class. September 2006 saw the smallest cyclone ever to hit Queensland shores arrive in the form of Nova, or Lumineux Monnlight Sonata, who has quickly become Venice’s partner in crime…

To keep all things equal we needed to add another red dog, and in September 2007, we were delighted when the lovely laid back boy Belgenbeau Avion Milehi joined our family.

Where to now? We are hoping that 2008 will not only see some beautiful tervueren puppies born at Belengere, but also the arrival of our second breed………………
